"Sary Jaz" Panoramic round trip
The Sary-Jaz valley is located in the gorge of the river of the same name and its right tributary Ak-Shyirak in the foothills of the Central Tien Shan, extending from 2700 to 3500 meters above sea level. The river rushes through the syrtas (summer pastures) parallel to the Sary-Jaz ridge from the north side.
With a length of 198 kilometers, the Sary-Yaz is one of the largest mountain rivers in the region. This waterway is fed by the meltwater from the snows and glaciers of the mighty Muzdagh mountain range, and flows beautifully through the terrain.
As you travel along the Sary Jaz Valley, you will see majestic views of the mountain crests, sharp peaks and cirques of the surrounding ridges. Here, on the horizon, the mountains are covered with a thick veil of snow, under which you can see the glistening tongues of glaciers. At sunset, under favorable conditions, one can see the top of Hantengri Peak (7010 m).
The Sary-Jaz valley cuts through the mighty Kakshaal-Too ridge towards China.
The vegetation in the valley has adapted to the harsh conditions, where at an altitude of about 3000 m the border of the high mountain steppe belt ends, and instead tipchak, wormwood and sagebrush thrive.
This area has a huge potential for organizing extreme rafting, car and motorcycle tourism, cycling, horseback riding and hiking.
Traveling through the Sary-Yaz valley promises you to see a lot of amazing things. From visiting the picturesque Sary-Jaz canyon to exploring the Ak-Chunkur "white pit" cave with ancient history and a small lake in its vicinity.
